KP-140™, an alkyl polyglycoside APG, is a phosphate ester with a wide variety of desirable properties including plasticization, solvation, flame retardancy and defoaming. This multifunctional additive may be used to modify the properties of many polymer systems and is a particularly good leveling aid and coalescent additive for emulsion polymers.
KP-140™ is used in a mixed solvent/aqueous system as a defoamer during production and as a secondary plasticizer in many polymers.
KP-140™ is used widely in acrylic based polishes where its coalescent in addition, plasticizing properties will improve leveling and gloss, enabling a “dry bright” finish to be obtained. It will also reduce surface defects such as streaking, crazing, and powdering.
KP-140™ is used in acrylic gloss paint formulations as a coalescent and defoamer. It also improves pigment wetting and rheological properties with a minimal effect on reflectance.
KP-140™ is a highly effective “knockdown” defoamer used extensively in paint, textile, and paper industries. It is recommended for use where foaming is a problem during manufacture and is effective at extremes of pH and temperature.
KP-140™ is used as a non-halogen flame retardant additive in polymer systems where combinations of its multifunctional properties are desired. It may be used in conjunction with other flame-retardants.
